On June 27, 2011, the Recorder legal newspaper published California's Million Dollar Settlements for the last year. There were 63 individual million dollar settlements in the State of California. The 7th largest settlement on the list was a case handled by Abramson Smith Waldsmith which settled for $17,500,000 (Our Client v. Gustine Unified School District) involving brain damage to a young cheerleader in Merced County, California.
There were only two personal injury cases in the Top 10 settlements and the case handled by William Smith and RJ Waldsmith of Abramson Smith Waldsmith was by far the largest in Northern California for the year.
The next closest Northern California case came in at #22 on the list and it was $10,000,000 less in value.
