Our client v. Driver of a carConfidential settlement amount. This incident occurred in Redwood City, California and was a "dooring" case involving serious injuries to a bicyclist who was the plaintiff. Plaintiff was riding his bicycle in a bike lane and was passing a parked car that gave no indication that anyone was attempting to get out of the car as he approached it. Suddenly and without warning, the driver's door was thrown open in his path and the top corner of the door hit the plaintiff's next in the vicinity of his jugular vein. He was thrown from the bike and was profusely bleeding. Fortunately, there was an ambulance nearby and paramedics gave him immediate attention and saved his life. The defendant denied negligence and accused plaintiff of inattention and running into his door. The case was eventually settled favorably for plaintiff. |
