Best Lawyers | Lawyer Of The Year | William B. Smith | Personal Injury Litigation Plantiffs | San Francisco 2024

Biography

Bill Smith has represented the catastrophically injured and the families of those wrongfully killed since 1973. For over 50 years, Bill has fought for plaintiffs, the underdogs, against major corporations, public entities and insurance companies. In his career, Bill has served clients all over the State of California, the United States, Canada and Europe.

Bill carefully selects his cases and clients, looking for those matters in which he can make a real difference. He then personally handles all of his cases.

Bill has amassed a stellar reputation among the legal community. He has been included in the national "Best Lawyers in America" for the last 20 years. He was recently named the Best San Francisco Personal Injury Litigator in San Francisco by The Best Lawyers publication. Bill has been selected as a Super Lawyer for all 20 years of the award. Out of approximately 69,485 attorneys in Northern California registered with the State Bar of California, only 262 attorneys have been selected to Super Lawyers all 20 years, making Mr. Smith in an elite group of the top 0.3% of attorneys in Northern California. Lawdragon Magazine named Bill one of the top 500 plaintiff lawyers in the nation.

Bill is one of a handful of lawyers in California who has been honored by being elected by his peers to be a member of the four primary national trial lawyers associations: The American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), The American College of Trial Lawyers, The International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and The International Society of Barristers.

In addition to the above, in 2019 Bill was elected to the Lawdragon Hall of Fame as a trial lawyer. Lawdragon is an organization that selects the top 500 lawyers nationally with personal injury lawyers being only a small percentage of this group.
