Poor weather condition and car crashes

On this blog, an array of auto accident causes have been covered, such as drunk driving, driver fatigue, speeding and all sorts of other factors. However, inclement weather is an especially serious concern for people who drive in a variety of climates. From heavy rain to snow and ice, different types of weather conditions can significantly increase the likelihood of a motor vehicle accident in San Francisco, and in all other California cities.

According to the Federal Highway Administration, many different weather-related events can affect drivers and result in traffic crashes. Fog, for example, can have a negative impact on visibility, while strong winds can cause tree branches and other debris to fall onto the road. Other dangers include snow, ice and roads that have become slick due to rainfall.

For people in many parts of the nation, the winter is a particularly dangerous time to drive. In fact, almost 70 percent of people in the United States live in an area which has snowfall. Furthermore, more than 70 percent of roads across the country receive over five inches of snow each year. Additionally, 24 percent of motor vehicle crashes caused by poor weather are the result of ice, slush or snow on the roads.

Sadly, even those who take all steps to avoid a crash sometimes become victims when they are struck by careless or inattentive drivers. Sometimes, people cause crashes by driving over the speed limit even though roads are icy, or by exhibiting other types of dangerous behavior behind the wheel.
