Officers of the Court – A Civil Approach
The attorneys at Abramson Smith Waldsmith LLP take their roles in the civil justice system seriously. We are proud to be officers of the court and approach our profession with the upmost civility. We fight for our client with zealous advocacy while striving to always conduct ourselves with dignity, courtesy, and integrity. We believe that maintaining respect and honesty brings honor to the legal system as a whole.
The Great Equalizer – Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
We have a Constitutional right to have our civil disputes heard and decided by a jury of our peers. The Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, within the Bill of Rights, guarantees the right to jury trials, providing a forum for all the facts to be presented, evaluated impartially, and judged according to the law.
The Seventh Amendment is vital to the promotion and preservation of fairness and justice in America. It levels the playing field, allowing an individual’s voice and interests to carry as much weight as that of major corporations, large insurance companies, wealthy individuals, and the powerful government. The framers of the Constitution and Bill of Rights removed this power from judges, who could be biased and corrupted, and entrusted ordinary and impartial citizens to decide the outcome of lawsuits.
At Abramson Smith Waldsmith LLP, we strongly advocate to protect the rights guaranteed under the Seventh Amendment, which is increasingly under attack by those who want to eliminate justice by the people and allow the powerful to rule, such as insurance companies.
