Those who operate a motor vehicle at a high rate of speed are inherently less capable of handling a multitude of driving scenarios. Those who encounter a speeding driver may also be left with insufficient time to respond to the situation and they could be the ones left suffering when a collision occurs. One person has died during a recent hit-and-run car accident involving a speeding driver in California.
According to reports, authorities responded to the scene of the crash on a recent Friday morning. Initial investigations indicate the collision occurred when the driver of a northbound car suddenly rear-ended a nearby truck before proceeding to spin out of control. The car crossed into oncoming lanes and struck a third vehicle and the impact of the crash forced the third vehicle to overturn off the side of the road.
Police advised that the driver of the third vehicle passed away at the scene of the accident. They also state that the driver who caused the crash was able to escape his or her vehicle and flee the scene on foot. An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing and authorities say attempts to locate this person are underway.
When a fatal car accident occurs, the surviving loved ones of the victim may find themselves in search of answers, or even justice. If another party is at fault in the crash, a person in California could choose to speak with an experienced attorney for guidance on his or her available legal options. An attorney can provide a client with advice on what to expect from the process and assist him or her in pursuing restitution through a claim against the party deemed responsible.
