California continues to offer economic opportunities. It also has a wonderful climate. With so many residents, walking is a popular source of transportation in urban areas. With vehicles and pedestrians sharing the same roadways, car accidents involving pedestrians seem almost inevitable.
Fatal accident
Recently in Moss Landing, a pedestrian suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle. The tragedy occurred at night in the southbound lane of Highway 1 just south of Portero Road. Reports said a woman was walking near the southbound lane as a blue sedan approached.
According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, the front right of the sedan struck the pedestrian and knocked her into the southbound lane of traffic. Tragically, she died at the scene. Reportedly, the driver of the sedan was not injured. Authorities said they are still gathering information about the accident.
Help for victims, families
Car accidents involving pedestrians are more likely to be serious or fatal for those on foot. Those in California who have suffered injuries or the loss of a loved one in accidents caused by the negligence of another party have the right to meet with an attorney to pursue damages. A successful lawsuit could result in victims and family members being awarded much-needed compensation to help with end-of-life expenses and other losses accrued due to a tragic accident.
